40 New Golden Open Colors

Golden Paints has recently expanded a few lines of acrylic paint. Golden OPEN Acrylics (Shop Golden Open) are slow drying acrylics formulated for more "open time" allowing more time for artists to work with the paint.

GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics feature a unique and remarkably relaxed set of working properties that facilitate blending, softening, shading, glazing and fine detail. The unique properties of OPEN Acrylics allow them to be used with natural fiber brushes and for a range of techniques including portraiture, plein air painting, monoprinting, and screenprinting. Use OPEN Mediums and Thinner to maintain the maximum working time of OPEN Acrylics. OPEN Acrylic Gel (Gloss) is recommended to adjust color strength and translucency while maintaining consistency. OPEN Acrylic Medium (Gloss) is formulated to a lower viscosity for a more fluid mixture with increased flow. OPEN Thinner contains no binder and is used to maintain and adjust the workability of colors on the palette without the use of water mist and moisturizing palettes.

Golden Paint Newest Colors

Golden Paint Newest Colors
Periodically ArtSuppliesInfo likes to feature new products from professional artist materials manufacturers. This week we look at Golden Acrylic Paints and Mediums with new additions to their Acrylic Heavy Body Paint (Shop Acrylic Paints)

The must have in that studio, GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylic paint line is expanding! Five new colors that each offer unique properties will complement the colors already in the Heavy Body family.
BISMUTH VANADATE YELLOW
The inorganic pigment has the opacity and lightfastness of a Cadmium color, without the typical UV/moisture sensitivity, making it an ideal yellow for outdoor use.
TRANSPARENT BROWN IRON OXIDE
This color rounds out the lines of browns, as it fills a color space between Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber, but with a cleaner, redder undertone. Imagine a dark valued, reddish Burnt Umber, with a warm, clean, rich, melted chocolate undertone.
PYRROLE RED DARK
Clean, dark, and rich, this beautiful organic red pigment fills a color space between Cadmium Red Dark and Cadmium Red Medium. It is a non-toxic, higher chroma alternative to Cadmium Red Dark that can be used in outdoor murals without the UV/moisture sensitivities of a Cadmium color.
PERMANENT MAROON
This color has been on our wish list for quite some time since we stopped production of the beloved Naphthamide Maroon, due to the unavailability of the pigment back in 1997. While Naphthamide Maroon was a single pigment color, Permanent Maroon is a blend. This smokey, reddish violet color dries with a sheen that is between glossy and semi-gloss.
CHROMIUM OXIDE GREEN DARK
A darker and cooler version of Chromium Oxide Green, with very good opacity. In addition to offering a cool, opaque single pigment color for fine artists, this color is closer than our regular Chromium Oxide Green to what is sometimes referred to as "European Green".
As the original line of paints from GOLDEN, these Heavy Body acrylics are known to be exceptionally smooth with a thick, buttery consistency. They contain the largest assortment of unique pure pigments in a 100% acrylic emulsion vehicle available to the professional artist. These acrylic colors offer excellent permanency and lightfastness. There are no fillers, extenders, opacifiers, toners, or dyes added. (Shop Golden Heavy Body Acrylics)

Amazing Acrylics
Acrylic paint is a synthetic, man-made product of modern science. The colored pigments are essentially the same as in those found in oils, however, the vehicle is a transparent acrylic polymer. Acrylics have become enormously popular since their development in the late 1950’s, possibly because they are the most responsive of any artist’s paint and acrylics are generally less expensive than oils.

Acrylics are an extraordinarily versatile media. They can be used on almost any surface and will dry to be waterproof in only minutes. Use them to create lushly textured impastos or subtle watercolor-like effects. They clean up easily with water and require no toxic or noxious solvents. Colors will not yellow with age.

Available in tubes, jars and bottles, acrylic paints come in two grades, professional and student. Professional paint is more highly pigmented than student, which uses less expensive pigments and extenders so it will fit the student budget.
